A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I took a day-trip to Santa Cruz for a run along the coast (marathon training woooo!) and a little dispensary tour. Our first stop was CannaCruz Collective, a shop that completely blew me away with their super friendly staff, wide selection of top-shelf flowers, and amaaaazzzing in-house concentrates.
I specifically picked CannaCruz for the DJ Short Blueberry that I’d seen on their menu – I’ll post a video strain review soon – but ended up being distracted from other flowers by their selection of super terpy concentrates. Nearly all of their in-house extracts had the flower counterparts on the shelf, which made it really fun to go from smelling concentrates to the flower that produced it.
After some tough deliberation I left with three live resin flavors: Chiquita Banana, Slymer and Blueberry. Check out reviews of each live resin below.
CHIQUITA BANANA LIVE RESIN
Chiquita Banana was the first live resin the budtender busted out, and it took me all of 2 seconds to decide that I would be taking some home. The golden-yellow sugar wax smells like an oven-full of fresh banana bread that happened to go a little rotten (in the best way possible). The pungent sweetness carries over to the flavor, coating my mouth in sweet flavors of fruit and vanilla, followed by undertones of pungent pine and kush. And just as the flavor begins to fade from my lips, a sledgehammer lands on the crown of my head – the Chiquita Banana is some seriously potent live resin.

SLYMER LIVE RESIN
Slymer (a.k.a. Golden Ticket) is a cut of the renowned TGA Genetics strain Chernobyl (Trainwreck x Jack the Ripper x Trinity), know for its lip-smacking flavor and uplifting, cerebral high. When I open the jar I’m hit with strong waves of lemon and lime, the layers of citrus ranging from sweet to sour. Overall it reminds me of Sprite and lemon drop candies. Dabbing the Slymer is like taking a shot of Sprite then stuffing a fist-full of lemon-flavored candy into your mouth. The sweet citrus flavors left me licking my lips for minutes after each hit, which is just enough time before my head begins buzzing from the sativa-heavy high. This live resin from CannaCruz is easily the best concentrate of Slymer that I’ve ever come across.

BLUEBERRY LIVE RESIN
My very helpful budtender also pointed me toward the Blueberry live resin, which they told me was made from Blueberry Yum Yum flower (also on CannaCruz shelves at the time). I was immediately intoxicated by sweet fruity smells reminiscent of blueberry jam and grape Airheads. Dabs of the Blueberry are silky smooth, leaving hints of floral and berry on my palate. It’s a nice hit, but it’s ultimately lacking a punch-you-in-the-face flavor intensity (like what’s in the Slymer and Chiquita Banana).
